Tom Mitchell, CFM, IFMA Fellow

Tom Mitchell is responsible for directing the strategic business, administrative management and client operation activities of FM3IS Associates, L.L.C., a facility management advisory and assistance services firm.  Tom previously worked for the Fortune 500 firm of Booz | Allen | Hamilton, where he provided facilities and asset management consulting and support services that shaped, improved and optimized the built environment.  In 2008, Tom retired from the US Air Force as a Lt. Colonel after serving 20 years leading people and managing programs that developed, acquired, sustained and protected facilities at military installations throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  Tom joined IFMA in 1998 and served on IFMA’s Board of Directors from 2005-2011, including as Board Chairman from 2009-2010.  He currently serves as the chairman of Florida A&M University’s Facilities Management Degree Program Advisory Council, a director on the (US) National Institute of Building Science’s Board of Directors, and as a member of the US Department of State Overseas Building Operations’ Industry Advisory Group.  Tom’s credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural studies, a Masters-level certificate in facility management, a Master of Arts in management, a Master of Military Operational Arts and Science, and the Certified Facility Manager designation.  He was inducted as an IFMA Fellow in 2013.  Contact Tom Mitchell
